GMRS CALLSIGN WQXU886 HAM CALLSIGN KC3IRE
Got my start in the radio world about 9 years ago and started out on gmrs.then started to mess with gmrs repeaters and did a slow upgrade to what i have now. then got my ham license and started to talk locally on simplex cause everybody could hear me so i didnt feel like using ham repeaters if i dont have too.
gmrs wise im running a moto msf5000 repeater @50watts, 7/8 hardline, with CA-712EFC antenna. i did use fencing clamps for the hardline to the mast and the mast are top rails for fencing too. what i liked the most i was able to connect the hardline right to the repeater. I used lmr400 when i first started a repeater then upgraded to the hardline you can see the difference. trees are gone now but thats before they cut them down front and back. the mount thats i posted is what im using for the repeater antenna it works great.. i did some testing with few other repeaters before i got my own vertex and a mobile repeater setup and a kenwood 25 watt repeater too.
GMRS REPEATER.
HAM GEAR.
ill be updating this but just setting the site up now.. got 220 base setup that i gotta get my antenna up been dragging on that.. most of my gear is moto or kenwood radios doing both ham and gmrs. growing up going down to my dads station the city used moto sabers and i just loved how they looked so i had to get some too.. i also use the sabers as marine radios when i went on the boat. older 1s have the red buttons and the astro sabers have the blue and they are digital P25 phase 1.
